Birds of Cape May, NJ – Oct 2018

Before moving on to Princeton for the most wonderful wedding of Richard Wanerman and Cindy Drakeman, we spent a few days birding in Cape May, NJ. (Not to mention the John Heinz NWR at Tinicum, in Philadelphia, en route.) The astounding thing about Cape May isn’t so much what you see – there were no “lifers” for us on this trip – but rather the numbers! Thousands of tree swallows, raptors and warblers galore, etc. Most of our birding was at Cape May State Park, home to the lighthouse and the famous Hawk Watch platform; and at Higbee Beach. Following are a few photos of birds (and other wildlife) we saw. Click a photo to see a larger version (with the caption) and to optionally start a slide show.
