Our second annual family trip, after last year’s Lake Tahoe Big Bear trip was to Indio, California! (Why Indio? Because Palm Springs doesn’t like AirBnBs too much these days haha.)
We had a palatial house to ourselves with plenty of space, a lovely pool and spa, ping pong (highly important), corn hole, and a putting green. As we did last year, we took turns cooking, enjoying breakfast for dinner, make-your-own pizza, Korean BBQ, a Cuban feast…not to mention a wonderful brunch, birthday cake (for Mo), pastries, etc. We didn’t starve. 🙂 We brought our bicycles with us and got a couple of very nice (and very flat) rides in; Margaret and Micah played tennis at Indian Wells; we did a (hot) hike with Margaret and Luci in the nearby Santa Rosa San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. We also explored the Mecca Hills a little bit (in search of the San Andreas fault and otherwise enjoying the geology), and visited the Living Desert in Palm Desert.
Other highlights included Family Olympics (Micah gets the prize in corn hole for having a “nothing but hole” toss), lots of ping pong, and a few intense scrabble games…and Liza tried to learn how to play Catan.
We’re already looking forward to next year!
