In April Liza had a work trip to Aberdeen MD, so took the opportunity at week’s end to dash up to NY to see friends Mark and Joanne Guralnick in Brooklyn. Robert joined Liza in Baltimore and together we took the train up to NY Penn Station. It was a very short trip, arriving on Friday and flying out on Sunday, but we did a lot, including a nice walk to Sahadi’s in Brooklyn Heights (Liza wanted some of their halvah), taking in a performance of Richard Strauss’ Arabella at the Metropolitan Opera, a visit to Arthur Avenue (The Real Little Italy of NY) in the Bronx, and a lovely afternoon at the New York Botanical Garden for the annual orchid show. We totally lucked out on the weather both days we were out and about walking. And (nearly) best of all, Robert got to know Jake (not from State Farm)! 🙂 Click the photos in the gallery to see larger versions.
