In January 2015, Robert joined a tour offered by Mark Pretti Nature Tours to eastern Chiapas, Mexico. The itinerary started from Tuxtla Gutierrez, climbed to San Cristóbal de las Casas in the Sierra Norte de Chiapas, then descended into the eastern tropical lowlands at Palenque and Bonampak, before concluding in Villahermosa in the state of Tabasco.
